My computer doesn't have sound. Systems sounds and even when I put a music CD in.?

I just put in a new hard drive and installed windows XP. My computer had sound before this changes. I checked all my connections and they are plugged in, I checked the sound device and its enabled and installed. I have sound blaster by the way, how do I correct this. Thanks in advance.
