I live in the USA. When I move to Colombia, will my present cell phone be any good? Do I need to buy one there?

call customer care and see if it is compatable, you may want to see if they can unlock it for you so you can get a local sim card, so you dont have roaming charges. But all in all it should work, but its gonna cost a fortune.
